50′ – Newport’s Scott Bennett delivers a superb cross from the left wing but it evades everybody in the box and drifts just wide of Andy Lonergan’s far post.
That ball was just begging to be headed home.

Half-time – Newport 0-1 Leeds

Mike Dean brings an end to the opening period and Leeds lead at the break through Gaetano Berardi’s early strike.

45′ – We’ll have a minimum of a minute of added time at the end of this first half.

43′ – We’re approaching half-time here at Rodney Parade, where Newport have given a really good account of themselves in the opening period. Can they get an equaliser before the break?

Padraig Amond shoots at goal for Newport

35′ – Cameron Borthwick-Jackson is robbed of possession by Robbie Willmott on the edge of Leeds’ penalty area but the Newport winger can’t take advantage, as he sends his left-footed shot high and wide of Andy Lonergan’s goal.

32′ – Newport’s Robbie Willmott delivers a great cross into Frank Nouble at the near post but the striker can’t direct his header on target. Instead, the ball loops away from goal and towards Padraig Amond, who sends his angled volley over the crossbar.
The hosts have probably had the better chances in this first half but it’s Leeds who lead.

26′ – Joss Labadie battles his way into a shooting position in the Leeds box but Gaetano Berardi, who has started this game superbly, gets across well to block the Newport midfielder’s angled shot.

23′ – Vurnon Arnita tries his luck from distance but the former Newcastle man doesn’t quite connect with the strike and Joe Day dives to his left to make a comfortable save.

20′ – Padraig Amond rises highest in the Leeds area to meet Matthew Dolan’s cross but his header is tame and Andy Lonergan collects the ball with ease.

17′ – Chance for Newport!
Robbie Willmott’s corner lands at the feet of Padraig Amond, who spins on the ball and gets a shot away. Andy Lonergan is beaten in the Leeds goal but Gaetano Berardi positions himself well and clears the ball off the line!

13′ – That early Leeds goal appears to have taken the sting out of this game for the time being. The Championship side are totally controlling proceedings.

GOAL! Newport 0-1 Leeds (Berardi)

9′ – Leeds take the lead and it’s full-back Gaetano Berardi with the goal, as he rifles a long-range shot past Joe Day in the Newport goal. 
The goalkeeper really will feel he should have done better with that one.

3′ – The home side have started pretty well here.
Newport striker Frank Nouble just skinned Vurnon Anita down the left wing before sending a cross into the box that was cleared.

1′ – We are underway at Rodney Parade!
